Sindhi Tomato Curry

    This is a very easy recipe to make and tastes good especially if you like tomatoes! I picked it up from an Aunt and enjoy it by itself or with rice.

    Serves: 4 

    • 5 tbsp besan
    • 1 can tomato sauce(15OZ/425 gms)
    • 6 tsp oil
    • 1 inch ginger
    • 1 clove garlic
    • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
    • 1/2 tsp rai
    • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
    • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
    • 1 sprig coriander leaves
    • salt to taste

    Prep:2min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Extra time:12min preserving  ›  Ready in:24min 

    1. Saute the besan, ginger, garlic, cumin seeds, rai, turmeric powder and red chili powder in oil till golden brown.
    2. Add tomato sauce along with 11/2 cups water and keep stirring for 10 mins so that the besan does not get lumpy.
    3. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.

    Use next day

    You can have it as a soup or with rice.

    what if I want to use fresh tomatoes?  -  14 Nov 2011


    I always mix besan and tomoato sauce with little water first so that it doesn't form lump. I also tried with this method and got lumps in my curry.  -  14 Apr 2017
