ubbu rotti and pache gojju - rice roti or bread and masala curry

    This is a very healthy recipe for all ages. Especially if you are sick and want to take something light, ubbu rotti works best. This is one of daily food served in our parents villages even today.

    Serves: 2 

    • 1 cup rice flour
    • boiling water
    • salt
    • 1 cup coconut
    • 1 tbspn corriander seeds
    • 1/2 tspn cumin seeds
    • 4 numbers pepper seeds
    • 2 red chillies
    • 1 small piece jaggery
    • 2 tblspn tamrind juice
    • 2 tbspn oil
    • 1tspn mustard
    • 1 string curry leaves
    • 1 tbspn black channa dal - kabul channa black
    • 1 pinch asefotida
    • 1 string curry leaves

    1. add to rice flour boiling water and mix in a way so that you are able to pat on the slab / wooden plank.
    2. start patting using the palm as shown in the figure
    3. make it round in shape
    4. take gently and add on heated flat pan, heat on both sides for a less than a minute
    5. gently remove from pan and put on gas stove
    6. the rotti bulges if you have done above steps correctly :-) rotti is ready to eat
    7. For the side dish - pache gojju or curry below are the steps
    8. add coconut, corriander seeds, cumin seeds, pepper, dry chillies, salt, jaggery, tamrind juice, water to the grinder or blender and make a smooth paste.
    9. garnish with mustard, channa dal asefotida, curry leaves.

    You can blend any left over rice with some water in a mixer and knead the dough with this liquid. Then, you can roll out akki rotti with a rolling pin like you roll out phulkas. This is an easy to way to make ubbu rottis.  -  21 Jan 2013
