    About this recipe: This is one of my favourite childhood foods to eat. It tastes good with rice or roti!

    Ingredients
    Serves: 4 

    • 1 cup Raungi (black eyed peas, soaked overnight and drained or tinned)
    • 1 onion (finely chopped)
    • 2 tomatoes (finely chopped)
    • 2 inch ginger (minced)
    • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
    • 1 cinnamon stick
    • 1 tsp cumin seeds
    • 1/4 tsp garam masala
    • 1/4 tsp haldi
    • 1/4 tsp red chili powder
    • 1 1/2 tsp coriander powder
    • 2 sprigs coriander leaves
    • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
    • salt to taste

    Directions

    1. Boil the raungi in a pressure cooker with salt and turmeric and cinnamon stick for 12 mins.
    2. While the raungi is boiling, heat oil in a wide pan. Place the rest of the ingredients in a pan (except for the coriander leaves) and saute for 3-4 minutes.
    3. Add the above mixture to the boiled raungi, garnish with coriander leaves and serve.

    Serving suggestion

    You can serve it with rice or roti and jeera - aloo.
