Prawn Biriyani

    Prawns cooked with Biriyani rice.

    • 1/2kgs Prawns
    • 1 tbsp Chillie powder
    • 1/2tsp Turmeric Powder
    • To taste Salt
    • 4cups Biriyani Rice
    • 7nos Cloves
    • 1 inch piece Cinnamon
    • 3nos Cardamom
    • 4nos Big Onions
    • 1 tbsp Ginger & Garlic Paste
    • 1 tbsp Coriander Powder
    • 2 1/2 tsp Garam Masala(preparation will be specified below)
    • 3 1/2 tbsp Ghee
    • 2 tbsp Coconut Oil
    • 1 no Lemon(Lime Juice)
    • 2 sprig Coriander leaf
    • 2 sprigs Curry Leaves

    Prep:1hr  ›  Cook:1hr  ›  Extra time:30min marinating  ›  Ready in:2hr30min 

    1. Clean prawns devein.Marinate with chillie powder,turmeric powder and salt for 30mins.Soak 4 cups of water for 10 mins and strain.Boil 8 cups of water with salt and keep aside.
    2. Fry the marinated prawns and keep aside.In a vessel,pour ghee,add the whole spices (cinnamon,clove and cardamom)Now add strained rice,fry for sometime till the ghee coats all the grains.Add the boiled water and cook till the water evaporates.Close with a tight lid and keep aside.
    3. For the Garam masala-Dry roast 1 Star Aniseed, 4 cloves,1 inch piece cinnamon, 1 tsp Saunf seed and 1 cardamom.and powder.
    4. In a pan,pour 2 tbsp Coconut oil and add the Big onions and saute. Add Ginger and garlic paste and fry for sometime.Add 1 tbsp Coriander powder and fry for some more time.Add the fried Prawns.Mix together.Add Garam masala powder, curry leaves and juice of 1 lime and take off fire.
    5. In another vessel,pour 1/2 tbsp Ghee and spread step number.4 evenly.Spread the cooked rice over this.Now spread chopped coriander leaf over it and keep on very low flame for 15mins.Serve with any type of Salad.:)
