Wash the beef cubes and set aside. Pluck the leaves of the spinach, wash and set aside.
Heat oil in a cooking pot. Add onion slices, salt, ginger-garlic paste, cumin, coriander, red chilli and turmeric powders. Stir for 5-6 minutes and add the beef cubes. Pour in 4 cups of water, lower the heat and put the lid on for half an hour. Stir regularly and check every and then if the beef has been cooked. If needed, add a few more cups of water so that the beef cooks properly.
When the beef has been cooked, add the spinach leaves and stir regularly. Sprinkle the half cut green chillies.
Cook until the leaves have wilted and cooked. Check if the beef has been cooked by taking out a cube and pressing it with hand.
Serve with plain white rice.
If needed add more water when the beef is being cooked.
