About this recipe: Shukhna Morich Bhorta ( or, Dry Red Chilli Mash) is a native dish in Jessore, the southwest region of Bangladesh. It is EXTREMELY spicy, so if you are not used to eating spicy food, just be careful! It tastes great with khichuri, especially on a rainy day :)

Serves: 5 

  • 6-7 dry red chillies
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vegetable oil
  • 5 onions, sliced
  • Salt as needed
  • 2 teaspoon of mustard oil

Prep:10min  ›  Extra time:10min other  ›  Ready in:20min 

  1. Toast the dry red chillies on a tawa with oil until they turn dark brown and are crispy. Set aside the toasted chillies for cooling.
  2. In a bowl, add the sliced onion, salt and mustard oil. Mix well with hand and add in the dry red chillies. Smash well with hand.

Serving suggestion

Serve with Khichui.
