    Dudh diye Sujee Halwa ( Milk-Semolina Halwa) is a dessert that is great to eat with warm tortillas, parathas or loochis in the morning or in the afternoon. It can be also eaten by itself, as it is so delicious!

    Serves: 4 

    • 1 cup shujee ( sujee or semolina)
    • 1.5 liters of milk
    • 1 cardamom
    • 1 cinnamon
    • 1-2 bay leaves (optional)
    • 2 cups of sugar

    1. Heat tawa and toast the shujee slightly. Set aside for cooling.
    2. Heat the milk so that bubbles form and the milk thickens.
    3. Add the cardamom and cinnamon stick to the milk. Addition of bay leaves is optional.
    4. Add the toasted shujee to the hot bubbling milk and stir constantly.
    5. When the shujee swells and starts to boil with the milk, sprinkle the sugar and continue stirring.
    6. Sprinkle the sugar and stir constantly on low heat for around 10 minutes. The halwa will thick.
    7. The halwa can be served warm, or can be set aside for cooling and served cold.

    Serving suggestion

    It is great for breakfast or afternoon snack. It is eaten with rooti, parathas or loochis.
