Ireen’s Chepa Shutki Kathaler Bichir Curry (Shutki with Jackfruit Seeds Curry)
Chepa Shutki is a very popular and common form of shutki ( dried fish) in Bangladesh. The mildly sweet jack fruit seeds make a great combination to this spicy curry. It is best when served hot with plain white rice.
I made it!

4 chepa shutki
10 kathaler bichi ( jackfruit seeds)
1 cup of sliced onions
1/2 cup of sliced garlic

35 min › Ready in:
Clean the shutki pieces with water (not boiling water) and set aside.
Peel the skin of the jack fruit seeds, cut into thin slices and set aside.
Heat oil in a pan and fry the onion and garlic slices until the scent of onions and garlic comes out.
Sprinkle the turmeric powder and stir for a bit. Add the shutki pieces and continue to stir so that the ingredients do not burn or stick to the bottom of the pan.
Add the sliced jack fruit seed and stir it with the ingredients already in the pan. Pour in 1/2 cup of water.
When bubbles start to form, sprinkle the dry red chilli powder and stir it in.
Lower the heat and allow the seeds to cook until seeds become soft and water dries up to form gravy. By now, the oil should start simmering on top. Serving suggestion
Serve with plain white rice.
