Parshe Fish Fry

    Parshe Fish Fry is a typical Bengali recipe, favorite to fish lovers. It is simple, and the recipe can be used for any other sea fish. The fish fries are served white steaming rice.

    Serves: 7 

    • 7-8 pieces of Parshe Fish
    • Salt as needed
    • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
    • Oil as needed
    • 2 onions, sliced
    • 3 cloves of garlic, made into a paste
    • 1/2 teaspoon of coriander paste
    • 1/2 teaspoon of dry red chilli paste
    • 1/2 teaspoon of cumin paste
    • 5-7 green chillies, cut in half along the length
    • Water as needed

    1. Cover the fish pieces with salt and 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder.
    2. Heat a pan with 2 tablespoons of oil and fry the fish pieces. Set the fried fishes aside.
    3. In the same pan with the oil, fry the onion slices. Add the garlic, coriander, dry red chilli and cumin pastes. Now sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon of the remaining turmeric powder, and add green chillies and 1/2 cup of water. Cook until the water dries up and the oil starts to simmer and float on top.
    4. Now add 2 more cups of water to the curry mixture.
    5. When the water starts to bubble, add the fried fish pieces.
    6. Turn the heat down to a medium level, and cook with lid on for 15 minutes.

    Serving suggestion

    Serve with plain rice.
