    Khichuri is a main dish that consists of rice and dal. It is often cooked on rainy days, and it tastes great with beef curry and sliced raw onions.

    Serves: 4 

    • 250g rice
    • 250 g mugh dal (lentils)
    • 250 g masoor dal (lentils)
    • 1 tomatoe, cubed
    • 1 handful chopped cauliflower, boiled
    • 1 handful green peas, boiled
    • 2 cups oil
    • 4-5 green chilies
    • 4-5 onions, chopped
    • 2 tablespoon ghee (butter oil)
    • just a pinch of cumin seeds
    • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
    • 1/3 of teaspoon of garam masala powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon powdered red chilie
    • as you like salt
    • 2 bay leaves
    • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
    • 3-4 dry red chilies
    • 4 cups of water

    1. Pour the oil in a pressure cooker and add bay leaves and cumin seeds.
    2. Stir and add onion slices, washed rice and dal, turmeric powder, dry red chillies, salt and water
    3. Mix and stir well and cook until the water dries up and the oil starts to simmer and float on top
    4. Now add the water and put the lid on. When the pressure cooker hisses one time, take the lid off and allow the steam to be released
    5. Stir and add the boiled cauliflower, motor shuti and ghee. Also sprinkle the cumin and red chilli powders and stir well. Put the lid back on for 30 minutes.
    6. Serve with egg fry, beef or chicken curry :)
