bharwan mirch

    Learnt this delicious recipe from my best friend and made under guidance of my mom. The mirch used in this recipe is the one used in making mirchi bhaji. Can be eaten by itself or with roti/chappati or naan.

    • 7-8 chillies slit in centre and deseeded
    • 1 cup roasted groundnuts
    • 1 cup dry coconut
    • 1/2 cup of roasted sesame ( til)
    • 9-10 garlic cloves
    • 1 teaspoon of jeera ( cumin seeds)
    • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder ( haldi)
    • 1 teaspoon of garam masala powder
    • 1 teaspoon of coriander powder
    • 1 tspn amchur powder / chat masala
    • 1 teaspoon sugar
    • 1/2 teaspoon of astafoedia (hing)
    • salt to taste
    • 1-2 teaspoon chilly powder
    • oil as required


    1. Firstly wash the chilly and slit them lengthwise and deseed it and keep aside.
    2. Now powder the roasted groundnuts coarsely and keep aside.
    3. Now to the mixer add the dry coconut, sesame and remaining dry masala and grind coarsely and mix with groundnut mixture.
    4. Add a little oil to this mixture.
    5. Now fill this stuffing inside the chilly.
    6. Heat oil in a pan and after its heated put in the stuffed chillies and let it cook for 7-8 mins.
    7. Remember to keep the flame at low and don toss much just once to twice to prevent chilly from sticking to pan.
    8. Remove from flame and serve with phulkas and garnish with onions.
