    About this recipe: This is a unique combination of dried fish (shutki) and bitter gourd (korolla). To some who hate the strong smell of shutki or the bitter taste of korolla, it might be a recipe for disaster...but I assure you, if you feel like getting out of your comfort zone, then this recipe could be an option for you! All of that said, I assure you, that this recipe is a treat for shutki and korolla lovers! Serve with plain rice.

    Ingredients

    • 100g of Shutki
    • 1 big bitter gourd (korolla), washed and sliced into small pieces
    • 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil
    • 2 teaspoons of onion paste
    • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic paste
    • Just a bit of ginger paste
    • 4-5 green chilies
    • 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
    • Salt as needed
    • Water as needed
    • 2-3 cardamoms
    • 2 cinnamon sticks

    Directions

    1. Wash the shutki pieces and toast on a heated tawa
    2. Heat a pan with oil and add the onion, garlic and ginger pastes, green chilies and toasted shutki pieces. Stir well and add the turmeric powder and salt.
    3. Add a bit of water and cook until the water dries up and the oil starts to simmer on top.
    4. Add the cardamom and cinnamon sticks and stir well by adding just a bit of water. Cook until the water dries up and the oil starts to float on top.
    5. Now add the bitter gourd (korolla) pieces and stir well. Put the lid on and cook until the bitter gourd pieces boil.
    6. Now add the bitter gourd (korolla) pieces and stir well. Put the lid on and cook until the bitter gourd pieces boil.
    7. Serve hot with rice.
