Kumro Bori Bhorta

    This is a recipe native to Rangpur region in Bangladesh. It is a spicy mash, and is usually served with plain rice.

    • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
    • 15-20 kumro bori
    • 4-5 dry red chilies
    • Salt as needed
    • 2 tablespoons of onion slices
    • 1 teaspoon of mustard oil


    1. Heat a pan with oil and fry the kumro bori. Set aside.
    2. Toast the dry red chilies in a tawa. Set aside
    3. Place the fried kumro bori and toasted red chilies on a sheel pata.
    4. Grind them into a paste.
    5. Mix salt, onion slices and mustard oil with hand.
    6. Serve with plain white rice.
