    • Salt as needed
    • 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
    • 5 Ilish (Hilsa) fish pieces
    • 2 tablespoons of oil
    • 1/2 teaspoon of red chili powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon of cumin paste
    • 1/2 teaspoon of onion paste
    • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic paste
    • 2 tablespoons of onion slices
    • Water as needed
    • Sugar-just a pinch
    • 3 tablespoons of Greek yoghurt

    1. First cover and mix the salt and a few pinches of turmeric powder all over the fish pieces.
    2. Heat a pan with oil and fry the fish pieces. Pick out the fried fish pieces and set aside.
    3. In a separate bowl, add salt, turmeric and red chili powders, cumin paste, onion and garlic paste. Mix and make a paste.
    4. In the same pan used to fry the fishes, fry the onion slices. Add a bit more of oil, if needed.
    5. Add the spice paste and sprinkle 1-2 tablespoons of water. Stir and cook until the water dries up and the oil starts to float on top.
    6. Add the fish pieces one at a time. Sprinkle the sugar all over. Stir slowly and cook for a few minutes.
    7. Turn over the sides of the fish so that gravy sauce mixes well with the fish. Put the lid on and cook for 5-6 minutes.
    8. Pour the greek yoghurt all over, mix slightly, and serve. :S
