Michri Mouri Juice (Sugar Candy and Aniseed Juice)

    This is a traditional form of juice that is very refreshing.

    • 1/3 cup of michri ( sugar candy)
    • 1/2 cup of of mouri (aniseed)
    • water as needed
    • salt as needed
    • A pinch of black salt
    • 1 tablespoon of pati lebu ( Patia lemon-usually seedless) juice
    • A pinch of citric acid powder
    • crushed ice-as preferred


    1. Soak the michri or sugar candy and mouri or aniseed in water overnight.
    2. Drain the water and collect the extract in a jug.
    3. Mix in salt, black salt, lemon juice and citric acid with 2.5 cups of water.
    4. Pour the drink in serving glasses and add the crushed ice to each drink.
    5. Sprinkle some mouri in each glasses.
    6. Serve cold.
