About this recipe: This is a summer drink that has bangi ( muskmelon), red chilies, cumin and lemon juice! It is spicy, sweet and sour! Serve cold.

  • 1 cup of sugar
  • water as needed
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cumin seeds, toasted and grinded into a powder
  • salt as needed or 1/2 teaspoon
  • 3-4 dried red chilies, grinded into a powder-collect 1/2 teaspoon of the grounded powder
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of red food coloring
  • 2 cups of bangee or bangi cubes (muskmelon cubes)
  • crushed ice-as preferred


  1. Heat the sugar with water in a pot so that a thick syrup forms. Collect 2 cups of the sugar syrup.
  2. Mix the cumin powder, salt, grounded dried chilies, lemon juice, black salt and red food coloring. Stir well and mix with small cubes of bangi (muskmelon cubes)
  3. Add the crushed ice and serve.
