Jamburar Joltorongo (Pomelo Drink)

About this recipe: Jambura, Jamboora or Pomelo in English is a native fruit of South Asia. It is citrus and is considered very healthy. Serve cold.

  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1 ripe jambura or jamboora (Pomelo)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of white pepper powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black salt
  • crushed ice-as needed


  1. Mix water with sugar and heat in a pot so that a syrup forms.
  2. Peel the skin of the jambura and squeeze the jambura slices on a sieve and collect the extract on a jar. If needed, add a bit of water.
  3. Mix the sugar syrup with the jambura extract, white pepper powder and black salt
  4. Blend using a blender.
  5. Cover a jug with a thin clean cloth and tie it around the jug. Pour the blended mixture through this thin cloth and collect the juice. You can use a muslin sieve instead. Chill in a freezer for a bit.
  6. Serve with crushed ice.
