Montasir’s Rainbow trout grill

    This is a simple recipe to cook a trout in an oven. Serve with roasted vegetables.

    • 1 whole rainbow trout
    • 1 handful of thymes rosemary
    • Salt as needed
    • Just a pinch of pepper
    • 6-8 garlic cloves
    • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
    • 3-4 rosemary sticks
    • 2-3 lemon slices


    1. Put your oven on 200 degree Celsius to warm up
    2. Cut and clean the rainbow trout in the middle but make sure its still in one piece. (You can ask your fishmonger to do that if you are unsure)
    3. In a separate plate, cut a handful of thymes. Mix it with salt, pepper, garlic cloves and oil,
    4. Now in a baking tray put the fish, season it with the mix both inside and outside and if required put some extra salt and pepper.
    5. Stuff the rosemary sticks and lemon slices inside the fish.
    6. Your oven should be ready by now, put your baking tray inside the oven and bake for 35-40 mins.
    7. The grilled rainbow trout should be ready. Check with fork if the fish meat is white or light pinkish according.The eyes of the fish should turn white.
    8. Serve it with roasted vegetables/fried rice/couscous.
