Chal er roti (Rice tortillas)

    Chal er roti or rice tortillas are made especially during Shab-e-barat to eat with different kinds of halwas and beef curry. It is really easy and simple to make.

    • 2 cups of water
    • 1/2 kg of rice
    • 1/2 teaspoon of salt


    1. Soak the rice for 1-2 hours. Drain the water when the rice has softened. Dry the rice by laying it out on a tray.
    2. Grind the rice in a grinder into a powder.
    3. Heat a saucepan with 2 cups of water, salt and the rice powder. Stir and mix well.
    4. Transfer the mixture on a rolling board or counter top. Work on the mixture to make dough.
    5. Make small balls out of the dough. Roll each boll out into a tortilla.
    6. Heat a tawa. Toast the tortilla.
    7. Serve with halwa on Shab-e-Barat or any Islamic festivals.
