    • 1/2 kg of boot dal, soaked for 3-4 hours
    • 1 cup of soybean oil
    • 2 tablespoons of ghee
    • 3-4 cardamoms
    • 3-4 cinnamon sticks
    • 175 g of condensed milk
    • 2-3 drops of vanilla essence
    • 2-3 drops of brown food coloring
    • 1/2 cup of sugar (or as preferred, the condensed milk is already sweet-so it depends on your taste)
    • 2 tablespoons of raisins and nuts
    • White cream-as preferred

    1. Strain the water out from the dal. Grind the dal into a paste.
    2. Heat a saucepan with soybean oil and ghee.
    3. Add the dal paste, cardamoms, cinnamon sticks, condensed milk, vanilla essence, food coloring and sugar.
    4. Stir continuously until the mixture becomes consistently thick and the oil starts to simmer on top. The halwa will also start come together in circles with the stick and will not tend to stick to the saucepan.
    5. Pour the halwa on a serving dish. Allow the halwa to cool.
    6. Cut the halwa in diamond shaped halwas.
    7. Sprinkle nuts and raisins. You can also add bits of some white cream if you prefer.
