Chicken Chop

    Chicken chop is a popular afternoon snack item, especially amongst kids. Serve with ketchup.

    • 4 boiled potatoes, pealed
    • salt as needed
    • 2-3 cups of soybean oil
    • 1 cup of chicken cubes, boiled
    • 1/2 cup of onion slices
    • 6-7 green chilies, chopped
    • 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon of red chili powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon of coriander powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper powder
    • 1 egg, beaten well
    • 1 cup of biscuit crumbs


    1. Mash the potatoes in a bowl with salt.
    2. Heat a saucepan with 2 tablespoons of soybean oil. Fry the chicken cubes with onion slices, green chilies, salt, turmeric, red chili, coriander and black pepper powders. This should take around 10-15 minutes.
    3. Make small balls out the mashed potato. Make a small indent. Stuff the indent with the spicy coocked chicken. Cover with the mashed potato. Repeat to make more balls or “chops”.
    4. Heat a deep frying pan with the soybean oil.
    5. Dip the balls in egg and then roll in the biscuit crumbs.
    6. Deep fry until the chops turn golden brown.
