About this recipe: If you do not have any side dish to go with plain rice, then this recipe can definitely help you turn the bland rice into something full of flavors and essences. The dahi rice can be made VERY quickly, and is a great recipe to use when you are in a rush, but yet you want to have something a bit heavy for lunch.

Serves: 5 

  • 1 tablespoon ghee
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon methi dana (fenugreek seeds)
  • 3 dried red chillies
  • 4 tablespoons dahi ( plain Greek yoghurt)
  • 4 cups cooked rice
  • 1 teaspoon chopped coriander leaves

  1. Heat a frying pan with ghee. Add cumin seeds, methi dana and red chillies. Fry for a bit until the cumin seeds turn brown. The ingredients should not be over fried.
  2. Mix dahi with rice in a bowl. Pour in the fried cumin mixture to the rice and dahi mixture. Sprinkle salt, and stir the ingredients together with a spoon.
  3. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
