Tomato and Peanut Chutney

    This is a delicious chutney that you can quickly make to add to the main meal course as a side dish or as a dip. The chutney is spicy, with hints of flavorful cumin seeds. Serve with curry, rice or chapati.

    Serves: 4 

    • 2 tablespoons soybean oil
    • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
    • 1 chopped onion
    • 2 teaspoons red chilli powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon haldi (turmeric powder)
    • 1 tablespoon sugar
    • 2 finely diced tomatoes
    • salt as needed
    • 2 tablespoons crushed peanuts

    1. Heat a pan with soybean oil. Add the cumin seeds and chopped onion slices, and fry it until the chopped onion slices turn pink.
    2. Sprinkle red chili powder, haldi and sugar. Stir and mix.
    3. Now add the diced tomatoes, sprinkle salt, and stir and cook for 5 minutes.
    4. Sprinkle crushed peanuts and mix well. Serve.
