Onion Uttappa

    You truly have not experienced India if you were not introduced to the world of dosas. Uttappa is of the same family of Dosa, only that it is thicker and tastier owing to the added flavor of onion.

    Serves: 4 

    • 4 cups rice ( except basmati rice)
    • 2 tablespoons poha
    • 2 cups udad dal
    • 1 tablespoon oil
    • 2 chopped onions
    • 2 chopped green chilies
    • salt as needed

    1. Soak rice, poha and dal for 8 hours. After that make a fine paste of the ingredients and keep them in a moist place for 4 hours to get fermented.
    2. Take a tawa and heat it on a medium flame. Put some oil on tawa.
    3. Spread a thick layer of above paste on tawa, spread chopped onion, green chilies and salt. Allow to rise and cook. This should take 2 minutes.
