    Halwa is a common south Asian dessert and it is usually made with lentil, semolina and carrots. This recipe is for making Halwa with bottle gourd and the outcome is truly phenomenal.

    Serves: 4 

    • 2 tablespoons ghee
    • 2 cups peeled and grated lauki ( bottle gourd)
    • 2/3 cup sugar
    • 1 cup milk
    • 1/2 teaspoon elaychi or cardamom powder
    • as preferred: crushed dryfruits for garnishing

    1. Pour ghee in a non stick pan add lauki and fry it on a low flame until it gets little pink.
    2. Then add sugar to it. Allow sugar to melt- once sugar melts, add milk and elaychi powder and cook for 10 minutes.
    3. Garnish with crushed dry fruits.
