About this recipe:
It is a great Maharashtrian style daal that is served with plain rice. I personally enjoyed having it with roti as well.
2 cups tur dal
2 cups water
2 teaspoons grated dry coconut
1 teaspoon garlic paste
2 tablespoons soybean oil
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon haldi powder
2 teaspoons red chilly powder
2 teaspoons garam masala powder
2 red chilies
salt as needed
- Boil tur dal in a pressure cooker for 20 minutes with 2 cups of water.
Meanwhile, mix coconut and garlic paste, and grind.
- Heat a pan with the oil, add cumin seeds and ground coconut and garlic paste . Stir and fry for 2 minutes.
- Now sprinkle haldi and red chili powders and garam masala powders. Mix well, and add red chilies.
Add cooked tur dal. Sprinkle salt and the ingredients for 5 minutes.
