About this recipe: This is a traditional lentil ball based bhaji, where the balls have been sun dried, and then cooked with a thick delicious gravy. Serve with rice or chapattis.

Serves: 4 

  • 2 tablespoons soaked moong dal
  • 2 cups soaked harbara dal
  • 4 teaspoons red chilly powder
  • 2 teaspoons haldi powder
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 2 tablespoons chopped onions
  • water as needed
  • Salt as needed

  1. First crush moong dal, harbara dal, half of red chilly powder and haldi powders in a grinder.
  2. Make small balls out of the mixture. Sun dry the balls until they become hard and dry.
  3. Heat a pan with vegetable oil, add cumin seeds and onions. Stir and fry until brown. Then add rest of red chilly powder and haldi powder and mix.
  4. Add the sun dried balls, then add a bit of water as preferred for thickness of gravy, salt and cook until this balls get a little soft.
