About this recipe:
This is a spinach and chana dal based side dish that has a soft and comforting texture. It is a typical Maharashtran dish, and is served with rice or chapattis.
8 cups palak patta (spinach leaves), sliced
Water as needed
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 teaspoons cumin seeds
1 teaspoon green chili paste
1 teaspoon haldi powder
1 tablespoon chopped garlic
2 tablespoons boiled peanuts
2 tablespoons chana dal, previously boiled in 4 tablespoons water for 15 minutes in pressure cooker.
Salt as needed
- Blanch the palak in a hot water. Grind and mash it.
- Heat a pan with oil. Add the cumin seeds and green chili paste. Add haldi powder. Stir.
- Then add mashed palak, peanuts and chana dal. Stir and mix.
- Add salt and boil for 2 minutes.
