About this recipe: This is a roti like dish that is made during a fast period, such as Navratri. It is made of special kind of rice called bhagar or samo seeds. Serve with curries made for fast.

Serves: 5 

  • 3 cups bhagar or samo or jungle seeds
  • Water as needed for soaking
  • 1 cup roasted crushed peanuts
  • 1 teaspoon green chili paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  1. Soak bhagar in water for 3 to 4 hours. Filter the water out.
  2. Add the bhagar to a mixture grinder. Add crushed peanuts, green chili paste, and cumin seeds.
  3. Grind the whole mixture in a mixture grinder. Make fine paste out of it.
  4. Heat a non stick tawa with oil. Spread a thin layer as a circle of about 1 cup of this mixture. Toast the roti like thalipith on both sides until the sides turn a light brown.
