About this recipe: This is a diwali special puri item, a flour based flat bread that has been deep fried. Enjoy warm with chutney.

Serves: 3 

  • ½ cup ghee
  • Salt as needed
  • ½ teaspoon carom seeds
  • ½ teaspoon roasted cumin seeds
  • 2 cups maida (all purpose flour)
  • Vegetable oil for frying

  1. Beat ghee and salt in a bowl. Then add carom seeds, cumin seeds and maida. Continue to mix and then form dough. Use little water if needed.
  2. Make small dough balls.
  3. Roll out each dough balls into medium sized tortillas or puris.
  4. Heat a deep frying kadhai with oil. Deep fry the puris until they become fluffy and golden brown.
