Vrat ka Raita

    This is a raita made during Navratri to go on thali that is served to break the fast. Serve with puri and other vrat food dishes.

    Serves: 4 

    • 4 medium sized potatoes, boiled and peeled
    • 1.5 cups dahi or desi yoghurt
    • 1/2 cup water
    • 1 tablespoon sendha namak (sendha salt)
    • 2 tablespoons ghee
    • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
    • 2 chopped green chilies

    1. Cut the potatoes into small cubes. Set aside.
    2. Mix the dahi with water in a separate bowl. Keep stirring continuously until a smooth and creamy texture forms.
    3. Add the aloo cubes and mix with sendha salt.
    4. In a separate pan, heat ghee. Add the cumin seeds and fry until the seeds darken in color to a brown shade-make sure the color does not darker.
    5. Add the green chillies and stir.
    6. Now pour this hot oil with the cumin seeds and green chillies on the dahi. Cover with lid immediately. When the oil cools down, take off the lid and mix the aloo with the oil.
