Boil the daal in 3 cups of water for 10 mins with turmeric powder and salt. Make sure you don't overcook it . You should be able to see seperate grains of daal otherwise your dish will be ruined! Drain excess water from the daal.
While the daal is boiling, place oil in a pan and saute cumin seeds, heeng and red chillli powder for 2 mins.
Place chopped onions(with lemon juice) and tomatoes on the boiled daal , throw the above mixture on it and garnish with green chillies, coriander leaves and amchoor and serve!
You can always add tari wale aloo when you are serving this dish with puri!
