About this recipe: This is a bit different raita, as it is made from lauki or bottle gourd. It is a Navratri special salad item.

Serves: 4 

  • 3 cups of peeled and grated lauki or bottle gourd
  • 4 cups dahi
  • 1 tablespoon ghee
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 3-5 green chillies, chopped

  1. In a bowl, mix grated lauki with dahi. Set aside.
  2. Heat a frying pan with ghee. Add cumin seeds and green chilies. Stir and fry until brown.
  3. Pour this hot oil with cumin and green chillies on the dahi. Cover with lid. Allow to cool, and then mix and serve.
