About this recipe: This is a delicious and traditional Indian recipe of chickpeas or chole. Serve with rice or chapatis.

Serves: 2 

  • 1 cup chole (chickpeas), soaked overnight
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons soybean oil
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 1/2 inch ginger, sliced
  • 3-4 green chillies, chopped
  • 1/2 tablespoon chole ready made masala
  • 1/2 tablespoon red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon cumin-coriander powder
  • Salt as needed
  • 1 teaspoon kasori methi ( dried fenugreek leaves)
  • 1/4 teaspoon chat masala powder
  • ¼ teaspoon garam masala powder

  1. Boil the chole and drain out the excess water. Set aside.
  2. Heat a kadhai with oil. Add onions, tomatoes, ginger and green chilli slices.
  3. Add chole ready made masala, red chilli and cumin-coriander powders and salt. Stir.
  4. Add the chole and kasori methi (dried methi/ fenugreek) leaves. Stir and mix. Add chat masala and garam masala powders. Stir and cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Serve warm.
