    About this recipe: This is a lentil fry dish that is creamy and spicy. Serve with parathas.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 3 

    • 1 cup toor dal
    • 2 cups water
    • 2-3 tablespoons soybean oil
    • 1/4 teaspoon mustard seeds
    • 1/4 teaspoon jeera/cumin seeds
    • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
    • 2-3 green chillies, chopped
    • 1 tomato, chopped
    • 2 onions, diced
    • Salt as needed
    • 1/4 teaspoon sugar
    • 3-4 curry leaves

    Directions

    1. Boil toor dal with 2 cups water for 15 minutes in a pressure cooker.
    2. In a kadhai, heat oil. Add mustard seeds, jeera seeds, turmeric powder, green chillies, tomatoes and onions. Stir and fry slightly.
    3. Add the chole and salt. Stir. Bubbles will start to form from the water being released from the dal. Stir and mix with the ingredients.
    4. At the end sprinkle a bit of sugar and add the curry leaves. Stir and fry for another minute or two. Serve.
