About this recipe: These are golden brown deep fried balls made from besan, mint and coriander leaves and other spicy flavorings. Enjoy with chutneys.

Serves: 4 

  • 1.5 cups besan
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1/2 cup chopped mint/pudina leaves
  • 1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • Salt as needed
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green chilies
  • soybean oil for deep frying

  1. Mix all the ingredients, excluding the oil, together.
  2. Heat a kadhai or deep frying pan with soybean oil. Take a lump of the mixture and drop a ball on to the hot oil. Repeat to make 7-8 balls and deep fry them. Repeat to make more balls.
