Pooti Mach Loti

    Loti is one of those vegetables that becomes soft and almost melts in your mouth. The curry is made with little gravy which makes both the fish and loti rich with flavors. Enjoy with hot steamy rice.

    • 2 tablespoons soybean oil
    • 1 tablespoon onion slices
    • 1/2 teaspoon chilli paste
    • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
    • 1 teaspoon garlic paste
    • 1/2 tablespoon onion paste
    • ½ teaspoon cumin paste
    • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
    • 250 g pooti fishes
    • 200 g taro loti slices
    • Water as needed

    1. Heat a pan with oil. Add the onions. Stir and add chilli paste, turmeric powder, garlic, onion and cumin pastes and coriander powder. Mix.
    2. Now add the fishes and cook until the water released dries up a bit. Transfer the fishes only out on a plate.
    3. Add the loti slices and cook again until the water released dries up a bit. Now add water as for preferred gravy.
    4. When bubbles start to form, add the fish slices. Cook on medium heat.
    5. When the water dries up to form thick gravy and the oil surfaces on top, turn down the heat and serve.
