Sanj’s Sholka

    Sholka is an exceptionally healthy dish as it has a mix of various leafy vegetables and flavorful spices. Enjoy with warm rice.

    Serves: 5 

    • 2 cups shajna/drumsticks leaves
    • 2 cups pat shak/jute leaves
    • 2 cups kochu shak/taro leaves
    • 2 cups kolmi shak
    • 1 pinch edible soda
    • 4 green chillies
    • Salt as needed
    • 2 teaspoons garlic paste
    • 1/2 teaspoon ginger paste
    • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
    • 1.5-2 cups water
    • 1 tablespoon soybean oil
    • 1 tablespoon garlic slices

    1. In a saucepan, add the leafy vegetables, edible soda, green chillies, salt, ginger-garlic pastes, turmeric powder and water. Turn on the heat and allow the vegetables to boil.
    2. When the water has dried up and the vegetables have wilted and softened. Mix well so that the ingredients blend well.
    3. In a kadhai/korai add oil. When hot, add the garlic slices. Fry and then pour this oil-garlic on the saucepan with the leafy vegetables.
    4. Stir well and serve.
