About this recipe: I came across this recipe a year ago, when i was desperately searching for a simple naan recipe with butter chicken! After some research and developments, this is one of the simplest recipe one can think of! Patience is surely the key! Bon Appetite!

TejalGore Maharashtra, India

  • 4 Cups Maida
  • 1 Teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Yeast (I have used dry)
  • 1 1/2 Cup Lukewarm Milk.
  • Oil for greasing.
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt

  1. Warm a cupful of water and add sugar and yeast in it. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes.
  2. Sift 4 cups of Maida, add salt and the yeast and knead. Add milk till the texture is dough like. Knead it well, occasionally add oil or more maida if the dough is sticky/runny .
  3. Grease a heavy bottom vessel with oil, and put the dough in it. Cover with lid. DO NOT REFRIGERATE. The yeast would not work if you keep the dough in cold place.
  4. Let the dough sit for 8-9 hours.
  5. After 8-9 hours, the dough must have risen in double its normal size. Take out a small ball, roll it like a chapati.
  6. Cook it on a flat tawa, after a while, it will rise like a naan you get in restaurants. Cook well on both sides, add butter AFTER taking it off.
  7. Serve hot.
  8. All the best! :)

Make sure you knead the dough very very well. It should be very very soft but not sticky/runny. Flatten your naan as much as you can, it will eventually be fluffy after you cook it!
