Special Chammanthy

    Its a naadan kerala recipe ! It can be served with any rice, porridge ! A natural homemade recipe :-)

    • Grated Coconut 1 cup
    • Coriander Seeds 2 tsp
    • Chana Dal 1/2 tsp
    • Urad Dal 2 tsp
    • Dry Red Chillies 6 to 8
    • Tamarind size of a gooseberry
    • Oil 1 tsp
    • Salt To taste
    • Curry leaves A sprig


    1. Take a kadai, heat oil in a low flame. Roast the Coriander seeds then Chana dal and dry red chillies.
    2. Now add the grated coconut and fry it till it turns light brown colour. Add curry leaves, fry for 2 more minutes.
    3. Roast the Urad dal separately and keep it aside. Grind Coconut mixture adding the tamarind and salt to it.
    4. When it is half ready , add the roasted Urad dal and grind the whole mixture and your special chammanthi is ready !!


    Remember not to make it a smooth paste.. It's a coarsely ground chammanthi !
