Aloo Methi

    I absolutely love this dish! It reminds me of fresh methi that used to grow in my garden in Allahabad! The aroma of this dish makes me nostalgic and homesick!

    Serves: 4 

    • 1 cup fresh or dry kastoori methi
    • 4 potatoes(large)
    • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
    • 1 clove garlic minced
    • 1 inch ginger minced
    • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
    • 1 tsp lemon juice
    • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
    • salt to taste

    1. Boil the potatoes in a pressure cooker for 10 mins and cut into small pieces.
    2. While the potatoes are boiling, saute cumin seeds, ginger and garlic for 2 mins and then add the methi leaves and red chilli powder.
    3. Saute the above for 3 mins.
    4. Add the cut up potatoes and mix well. Add lemon juice to it to give it a little tangy flavour and serve.

    Serving suggestion

    serve with rotis or with moong-masoor daal and rice.
