Orange Mint Water

    Pass the coke and serve this healthy, fruity water at your next brunch. It looks great and tastes even better! If you don't have oranges, you can use lemons or limes instead.

    Serves: 15 

    • 3 ripe oranges
    • 1 sprig of mint, finely chopped
    • A decorative jug/pitcher of water
    • Ice

    Prep:5min  ›  Cook:5min  ›  Extra time:30min chilling  ›  Ready in:40min 

    1. Scrub and wash the fruit thoroughly. Dry. Chop whole fruit into slices. Chop herbs. Add into water. Chill for 30 mins. Serve.
    2. Note: Continue to add water into jug. The oranges will last one whole day. If you don't like chomping on mint in water, use whole unchopped sprig and float that into the water.

    Altered ingredient amounts. Orange-Mint Salad This salad was inspired by one of my kids commenting that “oranges are so every day.” My mom remembers when oranges were a treat. I love oranges, so I wanted to make something a little different. I’m also enjoying using our abundant spearmint while it is still fresh from the garden. Thinly slice several spearmint leaves, to taste. Mix in some brown sugar, to taste. I used a bit too much for our tastes, about ½ T. Peel and chunk oranges. I used two California navels. You can see the effect of the brown sugar in the difference. This was sweet and tangy and not too juicy. My kids thought it was “ok.” for more information  -  22 Apr 2011
