Huruli or Horse Gram Usli

    Huruli (horse gram) usli is a healthy snack which can be taken in the evening with coffee or eaten with rice and huruli saru or sambar which I have uploaded here. Eat Horse gram- be assured you are fit to walk and run like a horse ;-)

    Serves: 4 

    • 1/2 cup horse gram
    • 1/2 cup whole black channa dhal soaked overnight
    • 2 sp salt - to taste
    • 1/4 cup coconut
    • 1 lemon
    • 4 red chillies - dry
    • 2 tps mustard seeds
    • 1 string curry leaves
    • 4 tbsp oil for seasoning
    • 2 pinch asefotida or hing

    1. wash all the gram and pressure cook with salt. wait for 12 whistles. allow the cooker to cool.
    2. take kadai / pan , add oil. wait for oil to be heated up.
    3. add mustard and allow to splutter, add curry leaves, hing, red chillies. add coconut and fry until light brown
    4. drain off the water from the cooker and add the gram , salt and mix well
    5. switch off the stove. squeeze lemon.
    6. delicious usli.. ready to be served
