    • 3-4 tablespoons olive oil
    • 400g chopped tomatoes
    • 6-7 fresh basil leaves
    • 3 tablespoons of tomato puree
    • 1 tablespoon mustard
    • 1 tablespoon garlic salt
    • 1 to 2 tablespoons spicy sauce of choice
    • 1 to 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
    • 1 tablespoon dried herbs
    • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper

    • 4 sundried tomatoes in oil (roughly chopped)

    Directions
    Prep:10min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Ready in:20min

    1. Heat oil in a saucepan over low heat.
    2. Pour in the tomatoes, add the basil leaves and squeeze in a generous amount of tomato puree to thicken it up.
    3. Then add the mustard, garlic salt, Worcestershire sauce, balsamic, herbs and cayenne; mix thoroughly.
    4. Add the slice of lemon and diced onion. Simmer for 5 - 10 minutes over a low heat.
    5. When nearly ready to serve, pop the bacon rashers in the microwave for around 3 minutes until tender, yet cooked. Chop roughly and add to sauce along with sundried tomatoes.
    6. Cook for another 2-3 minutes and remember to take the lemon out before serving.
    7. Serve piping hot over some freshly cooked pasta.

I cooked this recipe for a special birthday dinner because it sounded so lovely. Dished it up and we all had our first mouthful at the same time and we all nearly died! One tablespoon of cayenne pepper!!! Seriously? DO NOT TRY THIS RECIPE unless you take away most of the cayenne pepper. I'm sure it is nice if you don't mind burning all down your throat and noses dripping into your meal. We could not eat any of it, even after adding heaps of greek yoghurt. What a disaster on what was meant to be a special occasion.  -  29 Apr 2015  (Review from Allrecipes AU | NZ)
