Caramelised makhana

It is a mildly sweet snack, very easy to make and looks good to serve. As Navaratri are also approaching, one can have them during their fasts also.

    • 100 gm makhana
    • 3/4 cup sugar
    • 1 tbsp clarified butter (desi ghee)

    1. In a pan, heat oil and roast makhana till they get crispy. Take out these roasted makhana in a plate.
    2. In a same pan, add sugar and heat on medium flame till it gets golden in colour. In the beginning it will get sticky, but keep on stirring it.
    3. As soon as the sugar gets melted and golden in colour, remove the pan away from the flame and add makhana to it. Mix makhana and sugar properly and quickly so that each makhana gets coated with the sugar. After mixing them well, take out in a plate and allow them to cool for 5 to 10 minutes.
    4. Once makhanas are cooled down, separate each makhana with a hand.
    5. Your quick and easy snack is ready.

Be cautious while melting sugar because the melting point of sugar is very high. It may seriously burn your hand. Secondly, while mixing and separating them you have to really quick otherwise they will stick to each other.
