Easy English Scones

    Great any time of the day, scones are best served with jam and served with dopehar ki chai.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 10 

    • 225g self-raising flour, plus extra for dusting
    • 1 pinch of salt
    • 25g caster sugar
    • 25g butter, diced (plus extra for greasing)
    • 150ml milk

    Directions
    Prep:15min  ›  Cook:12min  ›  Ready in:27min 

    1. Mix the flour, salt and sugar together in a bowl. Add butter and using the rubbing in method mix into the flour until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
    2. Add the milk a little at at time until dough is moist but not sticky.
    3. Turn out on to a well floured board and roll out to about 1cm (1/2") thick.
    4. Place on a well greased backing tray and bake at 220 C for about 12 to 14 minutes. Allow to cool slightly on a wire cooling rack.

    Made it healthier. to make it healthier add a touch of berries and fruit. i tried this and they were beautiful and if the kids dont like fruit chop it small or add it in the ingredients. (it works says its chocolate).  -  12 Apr 2011  (Review from Allrecipes UK | Ireland)

    excellent very easy to make and enjoyed by all , ( I passed the point with the milk and had to compensate with more flour ) also cut them in squares and brushed with milk  -  06 Jul 2012  (Review from Allrecipes UK | Ireland)
