Palak kofta

    Hello friend , Palak kofta (spinach kofta) is a delicious vegetarian main course dish. These spinach koftas balls are made with chopped spinach and mixed with besan (gram flour) chopped onion, minced garlic, green chilies and some spices are added to make them delicious, then they are deep fried like pakoras and later simmered in spicy gravy. Spinach is very nutritious but kids run away from it but they will love palak koftas. When you get tired of eating usual regular food and you want to make something special and give a little variation to dinner menu koftas always come in mind.

    • For kofta balls ingredients
    • Palak not boiled 100g
    • Besan 2 half tsp
    • 2 small Onion chopped
    • 2 green chilli
    • Kaju powder 3 tsp
    • Salt for taste
    • Oil for deep frying 3 tble
    • For kofta gravy ingredients
    • Onion 2
    • Garlic ginger paste 2 tsp
    • Tomato 2
    • Dry garam masala laung, badi elaichi, dalchini, jeera,fulchakri, javitri red chilli
    • Red chilli powder 1tsp
    • Haldi 1 tsp
    • Dhaniya powder 1 tsp
    • Kaju paste half cup
    • Namak for taste
    • Oil 2 tble


    1. For kofta balls method Add gram flour to the spinach mixture and mix everything together to the consistency for rolling the balls for koftas with the dough. Add some water if need or add more gram flour if dough is too soft.Before you start making balls heat 2 cups of oil in a frying pan or a kadhi on medium heat in about 7 to 8 minutes oil will become hot, to test it drop a small piece of dough in the hot oil if the dough start sizzling and comes up it means  oil is hot enough, turn the heat down.  Once the balls become golden brown or the desired cooler take them off the oil     and place them in a plate over the paper towel so that extra oil .
    2. For kofta gravy method Heat oil then add sabut garam masala , Onion ,garlic ,greenchilli, tomato and let it cook 2 to 3 min before blending golden brown and blend nicely. add blend mixture and sauté . mixture starts leaving the oil and reduces to about half in quantity. Add kaju paste about half cup for garnishing and cook for another minute. Add about 1-1/2 cups of water, as it comes to boil reduce the heat to low and let the gravy cook for few minutes. Note: adjust the thickness of the gravy to your taste by adjusting the water. Add the prepared koftas and let it simmer for 1-2 minutes.
