About this recipe:This is my favourite dry chutney. Nuvvu is the Telugu word for Til or Sesame seeds. This powder is great eaten with rice. It also adds a lovely flavor when sprinkled into Andhra kooras (sabjis).
Makes: 1 cup
250 grams nuvvulu (til, sesame seeds)
10 dry red chillis (more or less depending on your heat preference)
Salt to taste
Directions Cook:10min › Ready in:10min
Dry roast the sesame seeds till they are golden brown and fragrant. Spread out on newspaper to cool.
In the same pan, roast the red chillis with ½ teaspoon sesame or vegetable oil. Grind the sesame seeds and red chillis along with some salt into a powder. Nuvvu podi will keep for a few months on the shelf.
