Coconut mango chamanthi/ chutney

About this recipe: This is a dry chutney that is used in combination with rice porridge. When I was little, one good thing about being sick was that mom used to prepare this chutney to be eaten with porridge.

Ingredients

Serves: 4 

  • 1 small raw mango
  • 1/2 coconut
  • 5 small red onions (pearl onions)
  • 4-5 Curry leaves
  • 4 Dried Red chilies
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin
  • Salt to taste

Directions

  1. Chop the mango into fine pieces with skin intact.
  2. Grate coconut and peel the outer skin of onions.
  3. Mix all ingredients in a mixer and grind into a semi coarse mixture without adding any water. chamanthi is ready.
