Bengali Salad

    In the summer season this is a perfect accompaniment to any meal. It is healthy and refreshing and beautiful to look at. I recommend it for everyone as this is a good source of nutrition, easy to make, tasty and cleasnes your body. Try it and you will be hooked.

    Serves: 5 

    • 1/2 a cucumber, finely chopped
    • 1 carrot, shredded
    • 1 carrot, shredded
    • 1/2 cup finely chopped radish (optional)
    • 2 medium-small tomatoes
    • 1 medium sized onion, finely chopped
    • 2 green chillies, finely chopped
    • 1/2 cup chopped fresh corriander leaves
    • Salt as needed
    • 1 tbspn of sugar
    • 1/4 tspn black pepper
    • juice from 1/2 a large lime
    • few drops of mustard oil
    • 1 tspn crushed peanuts (optional

    1. Wash the vegetables well and cut them. Place all the vegetable ingredients in a large bowl.
    2. Add the seasoning i.e. salt, sugar and black pepper. Toss the salad until every thing is uniformly mixed.
    3. Sprinkle the lime juice, mustard oil and finally the crushed peanuts on top.
    4. Serve 30 mins later, preferably chilled.
